Common Symptoms That May Indicate Serious Problems
The Seattle Times has an article about a few common symptoms that don't normally indicate a serious problem but may also be related to serious illness. These symptoms are hiccups, nosebleeds, and twitching. Normally these are not symptoms of anything more serious than a little irritation or unusual exertion. Still, when they are prolonged or otherwise more severe than usual they can indicate a more serious problem. For example a prolonged nosebleed can be serious not just due to a loss of blood but also because it may be indicative of a more serious issue like a nasal tumor, bleeding disorder, or high blood pressure.Nosebleeds are also associated with sinusitis and other upper respiratory infections. While not among the most common symptoms for sinusitis repeated nosebleeds coupled with nasal stuffiness, pain in the face, or headaches originating behind the eyes may be indicative of a sinus infection. This should be taken seriously particularly if the nosebleeds last 20 minutes or longer. For more information about sinusitis symptoms and treatment methods, contact our office.
